Today your smartphone too has a voicemail inbox that you can easily access. These voice inboxes can be accessed in various ways but the basic steps are the same for all Android phones.
Setting up and checking how to change Password of Voicemail on Android
To set up and check voicemail on your Android phone, go to the Phone option and open the keypad or dial-pad. This is the pad that enables you to dial a number. Press and hold “1.” You will notice that the little icon below the number indicates a tape recording.
Follow the instructions on the screen to set up your voicemail inbox. If you already have one, you will immediately be able to access it.

You can press and hold the “1” key as in the setup process and follow the instructions to set up or change your voicemail password. Follow the IVR options to do this on your smartphone.

Checking voicemail on Android from another phone
If you need to access your voicemail because your phone is out of charge or you are unable to access your phone, for the time being, you may do so from another phone as well:
- Call you own number from another phone
- Let the recorded greeting play before it asks you to record your message. Tap the hash key (#) on the keypad.
- Enter your voicemail PIN
Your voicemail will open up and available for you to access.
Reading your voicemails
Did you know that it is possible to read the messages in your voicemail in text form? All you need is one of the apps available on Google Play Store like Voxist or My Visual Voicemail. Download and install one of these apps, and give them the necessary permissions. Make sure they are switched on, accesses are granted and read text transcripts of your voicemail messages, without having to open your voicemail at all.
Checking voicemail from a computer
It is also possible to check your voicemail from a computer. If your device or carrier does not support visual voicemail, you can use this method. Some of the apps that enable visual voicemail also provide access to them via a computer. You will need to install the YouMail app for this. Remember you can also access your voicemails from any device that runs YouMail. Follow these steps:
- On your computer or laptop, install YouMail and set up an account.
- Sign in with your credentials.
- All your voicemails will open up. Press the Play icon to listen to the message or read them in the Inbox.
- You can choose to Save, Forward, Delete or Block the voicemail messages from your YouMail account.
