Indians change phone shopping pattern – Usually, each user buys a smartphone according to his needs. It is believed that a large battery, better camera, and display are very important in the phone for Indian users. But according to new research by CyberMedia Research (CMR), Indian customers give more importance to audio quality than camera and battery when purchasing smartphones.
Research has found that one in four users consider audio quality to be the most important for purchasing a smartphone. This is the first time that audio quality has been given more importance in the buying pattern of users’ smartphones.

According to Satya Mohanty, ahead of industry consulting, CMR, the reason for the increase in demand for smartphones with better audio quality is the lockdown. According to Prabhu Ram, head industry intelligence group of CMR, the user wants high-quality sound in every matter from OTT configuration to mobile gaming. Due to this, the demand for smartphones with better sound quality has increased.
- Indians consider audio quality to be the most important for purchasing a smartphone. In research, the superior audio quality got a score of 66 out of 100, while the battery life got a score of 61 and the camera a score of 60.
- 94 percent of Indians enjoy popular audio by listening to music on the OTT platform.
- 96 percent of Indians watch user-generated content on video – movies, OTT content, or social networks.
- The most preferred audio accessories from Indians are wired earplugs and earbuds. 78 percent of consumers prefer wired earplugs, while 65 percent use earbuds.
- More digitally strong people prefer shorter videos. They account for 38 percent, while short digital users prefer longer videos. Its number is around 23 percent.
- About 62 percent of every 5 users demand better audio during gaming.
- 3 out of 7 users regularly have some problems with smartphone audio.
