The single-player set a new record for simultaneous players of the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 surpasses the previous record for simultaneous players in a single-player game on Steam (and simultaneously for viewers on Twitch).
As PC Gamer points out, the previous record with 472,962 simultaneous players easily surpassed the million mark after the launch of Fall Out 4, Cyberpunk 2077.
Peak players reached 1,003,264, certainly not in the case of large multiplayer games – for example, Dota 2 previously recorded 1,295,114 gamers at a time, while PUBG holds the record, with 3,257,248 enjoying Bottle Royale at the same time.

Obviously, this is only available on Steam, Cyberpunk 2077 is available on other PC platforms such as GOG.com and Epic – so PC player numbers may be higher than the figures indicated. In fact, people who have dropped out of Steam may be at least somewhat happy on launch day, as the initial rush of gamers downloading the crucial ‘Day One Patch’ caused a lot of recessions (or even crashes).
Some people have complained about stopping Steam at the end of the game’s download, but Valve has stepped in to clarify this – what’s actually happening here is that encrypted data is packed, which can take some time.
Twitch is a milestone
With so many players running for Steam Cyberpunk 2077, Twitch was viewed by over a million people, and this is an even more eye-opening figure – again, the first single player to win the title (and some multiplayer games at a time).
So, this is a great experiment in the face of cyberpunk 2077, though it’s not surprising considering the eagerly awaited Open World RPG and the hype machine behind it.
However, previous Steam reviews have underlined this, where there have been a number of complaints about initial bugs and glitches – although it is unclear whether those reports came from updated gamers for the newly released Nvidia drivers. Those with an Nvidia GPU on all digital accounts are required to do so, but we expect more cyber share 2077 patches to be faster in these early days of the game.
