Is Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra worth buying?

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is available in India. Its top variant has 512GB of storage with 16GB of RAM. Let’s know what are the features and drawbacks of this phone.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra is available in India and is the latest flagship of the company. The phone is expensive, premium and the company has made big claims for everything from camera to performance.

In this review, we will know whether this phone justifies its price. What is new in the phone, what is new in the design. How the phone works on every front, from the camera, battery and display.

Design and Build Quality

If you like matte black then you will like this phone at first sight. We have reviewed this with matte black, which the company calls Phantom Black.

Although the back panel of the phone is of polycarbonate, which you consider as plastic. You can say why there is a plastic back despite being such an expensive phone. Your point is also valid.

But now most companies are giving good quality plastic instead of metal in their premium phones. This phone is better than all the smartphones in which plastic is used and I did not mind it personally. Without the cover, you can use the fingerprint less on the back panel, so it does not get dirty too quickly.

The design of the phone is good, the phone is not slippery, it is handy to use and the grip makes good. The camera module on the back panel of the phone is a bit different and looks great. The camera module is of metal. The phone’s frame is also of metal.

Overall the Galaxy S21 Ultra has a good design and especially the matte black variant is superb. The phone is neither too heavy nor too light. The company has tried its best to keep the phone thin.

Galaxy S21 Ultra: display

The Galaxy S21 Ultra has a large 6.8-inch display. 120Hz refresh is also supported. To use the 120Hz refresh rate like the Galaxy S20 series, you no longer need to reduce it to Quad HD. Now 120Hz support is also available in QHD mode.

One of the features of Galaxy S21 Ultra is the display of this phone. The screen is bright, colorful and the performance of the screen is excellent even in other smartphones of this segment.

Samsung is also known for offering great OLED displays in its mid-range and flagship smartphones. Its display from gaming to video editing shows its awesome and you see the colors accurately.

The phone’s display is curved, but the way Samsung used to give more curved displays in earlier smartphones is not the same. The display is less curved and I liked this thing, but it would have been even better if the display was flat all over. The curved display was not in the fan even before. But it can also be your personal choice.

Using OLED on dark mode always has a good experience and the same happened with it. Always-on display is superb and you can also customize it.

Galaxy S21 Ultra: performance

Samsung’s in-house processor Exynos 2100 has been given in Galaxy S21 Ultra. However, the American variant has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. Outside America, whether it is a European country or India, the company is selling this phone everywhere with the Exynos 2100 processor.

The debate has always been that in India the company should sell phones with Qualcomm processors and as far as I have received feedback from people, many people do not take Samsung’s flagship because it does not have a Qualcomm processor.

However, it is not the case that the performance of Snapdragon 888 is better than that of Exynos 2100. Because from performance and daily tasks to heavy gaming, this Samsung processor works well. Even if you follow the benchmark, here too both of these processors have a good to neck fight.

However, with this phone, we have not faced any major problems regarding performance. The phone is fast, smooth and handles all kinds of tasks well.

Tasks like heavy gaming, video editing to video recording, you can keep dozens of apps open. After continuous gaming for a long time, the phone is slightly warm. It will not be called overheating.

Talking about multi tasking, the phone is good on this front too. Samsung’s Android based OneUI has improved a lot and is improving over time. It is easy to use and has all the features you need. You can customize the phone on the software front and use it accordingly.

You can buy this phone with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variants. Apart from this, there is also an option of 256GB with 12GB RAM. Due to the huge amount of RAM and memory, you will also feel the benefit of gaming.

Galaxy S21 Ultra: Camera

The Galaxy S21 Ultra has four rear cameras. The primary camera is 108 megapixels, the other is 10 megapixels. The third camera is 10 megapixels and the fourth camera is 12 megapixels. This smartphone has a 40-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

Last year, the company brought a single tech feature with Galaxy S20 Ultra, which I like very much. This time the company has introduced the director view, which is found in the camera interface. This feature will prove beneficial for content creators and interviews. If you are vlogging then this feature will be best for you.

Used this model and it is really good. Through this, you can record from different camera angles from the rear camera by placing yourself in the frame. This is a good feature.

From the primary camera of this phone, you can click 12 bit HDR photos. You will also get 12 bit RAW file option in Pro mode.

The phone has a 100X Space Zoom which you can click photos of the moon. Moon photos are good. Generally, 100X zoom feature in India people clicks for moonlight pictures, but this is your personal choice.

The good thing is that up to 30X zoom, you will be able to click good pictures. Clarity will also be found right in the photos taken. The other good thing is that the focus remains stable on zooming more. For example, if you are still a little stable, you can zoom 100X and click a good picture of the moon without a tripod.

This phone has two telephoto lenses and helps in 3X and 10X. Wide angle lens is good and it covers quite a wide area.

Photos are also good in indoor, outdoor and low light. Portrait mode is also good, but it could have been improved even further. Photos clicked from the primary camera contain a large number of details. If you peep the picture, then you will get a sense of it.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra is also great on the video front. You can shoot stable videos with this and 8K also has the option to record videos.

Galaxy S21 Ultra: Battery

Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G has a 5,000mAh battery. Since there is no 5G in India, so it was able to test it in 4G itself. You can run it comfortably throughout the day in mixed-use by charging it fully.

However, if you turn on the high refresh rate and use the phone in full resolution then the battery backup will be reduced. Overall its battery life is good, but if 5G is launched then after that how will the performance of the battery be seen.

This phone supports fast charging and using 25W charger, it can charge more than 50% in about half an hour. Like you know, like Apple, Samsung has not provided charger with Galaxy S21 Ultra. The price of this phone is about 1 lakh rupees in India and it is disappointing not to be given a charger with it.

Bottom line

Galaxy S21 Ultra is a smartphone that you will want to buy once you use it. But this is an expensive phone and at this price, the company is offering a great display, camera and performance. The design is not revolutionary, but the matte black looks fantastic. If you are fond of the flagship of Galaxy, then you can buy this phone.

This time with the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the company has supported the S Pen like the Note series. But S Pen will have to be purchased separately. If you are interested in art, then S Pen can be of great use to you.
