WhatsApp OTP Scam | New feature coming to keep account safe
Instant messaging app WhatsApp is quite popular. Because of this, WhatsApp users also remain under the target of scammers. Users are very concerned about the WhatsApp scam. In many cases, WhatsApp users also have to lose access to their accounts. Now the company is working on ending such fraud.
To verify WhatsApp, users get a 6-digit verification code. Scammers take advantage of this. They claim a 6-digit code from users by claiming to talk on WhatsApp. After that, they access the user’s WhatsApp account.
Now the news is coming, the company is working on dealing with such fraud. According to a report by WABeta, WhatsApp is working on a new feature called Flash Call. With the Flash Call feature, users’ phone numbers will be automatically verified.
When WhatsApp users try to log in to their account, this will be done easily with Flash Call. They will not need any OTP. For Flash Call, users have to give permission to phone log to the app. With this, the account will be logged as soon as a flash call is received for WhatsApp verification on their phone number.
This feature has been seen in WhatsApp Android Beta version 2.21.11.7. According to the report, this feature can be optional. It depends on the users whether they want to give permission to the call log or not.
WhatsApp has also warned users of scammers’ calls and messages. The company has not asked to reply to those calls and messages in which a person calls himself an OTP by calling himself a WhatsApp customer agent. He talks about the account being deactivated in the case of not giving OTP. Users need to stay away from such scammers.
