Google has a new shortcut to initiate a meet call – Internet search giant Google has expanded its .new link to include Google Meet. This was confirmed by Javier Soltero, general manager and vice president of G Suite at Google, who said, “Oh, and http://meet.new also works.” You are welcome. “Writing ‘Meat.new’ on a web browser serves as a shortcut to go to the URL where you can start Google Meat via a direct link. This is the same web page that users use in Gmail. But the meeting opens by clicking on ‘Start a meeting’.

This week, Google added a shortcut for both Android and iOS users to start a Google Meet video call in their Gmail app, which will roll out in the coming weeks.
Once this feature is available to all smartphone users, they will be able to see a Meat tab on their smartphone’s Gmail app itself. Within this tab, they will see all scheduled Google meeting calls in one calendar.
All of Google’s efforts are part of the company’s strategy to push into the video conferencing platform.

Back in April, the company made Google Meat Free for everyone. The platform was part of Google’s productivity solutions for G-Suite, businesses, organizations and schools in the past. Google even stated that users would only be able to hold free meetings for one hour, however, there would be no cap until after September 30.
Google also has a dedicated app for Google Meat which has recently crossed 50 million downloads on the Google Play Store.
