How To Delete Your Reddit Account Permanently

If you are one of Reddit’s monthly active users, read on to learn more about Reddit’s privacy and security issues and how to permanently delete your account if you think it’s best for you.

Reddit is nothing new to the controversy. Flashback to the end of 2016 shortly after President Trump was elected. In response to the closure of the Hillary Clinton Gossip subdivision, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman found in the pro-Trump subdivision r / The_Donald that there were a lot of very popular and critical comments about Huffman.

Redditors Anonymous Huffman can edit and add code to any part of the site, which automatically replaces his username with his reviewer’s username and turns them into an insult. The radiators were quickly pointed out and dissatisfied with the way their data could be handled.

Huffman does not have this authority now, but the incident came to light on Reddit’s tech executives’ excesses and perhaps beyond that.

Several of Reddit’s losses, such as a prominent nude photo hack, rebel content moderators, and the removal of ‘Warrant Canary’ in 2016, have recently been exposed, suggesting that user data should be handed over to government authority.

An incident occurred in 2018 when Reddit cleverly (almost secretly) resumed tracking its users and shared this data with third parties.

Reddit allows tracking by default for advertising and personalization purposes, which users must opt-out of voluntarily. However, if users are unaware of this default tracking, they are unlikely to avoid it.

Additional ways to keep your data private online

In recent years there have been some news scandals surrounding the privacy protocols and policies of many social media platforms. For example, in 2018, the Cambridge Analytics scandal-hit Facebook, which inappropriately shared the data of 87 million users.

You can learn a lot about yourself from your social media accounts. There have been a lot of instances of thieves breaking into homes thanks to holiday ads on social media.

Many social media users unknowingly reveal their exact location when posted via geotags. It can give you your address and if your date of birth is displayed on your profile, fraudsters may have relevant information for identity fraud. The more information you have about yourself online, the greater the risk.

However, social media can be useful in many ways – not only to stay in touch with friends and family, but also for business purposes. So, if you are not ready or in a position to leave social media, there are some things you can do to stay safe.

Read and research the privacy policies of the social media sites you sign up for and be careful who you share regularly.
