Nepal tour after COVID-19: Back on trek (and other adventures)

Nepal tour after COVID-19

While life, as we know it, has come to a standstill, it is important to keep dreams alive and start planning new adventures. Nepal and its Himalayas can provide just the right setting to leave a stressful time behind and reset the body and mind into a fresh new start. The word “Nepal” immediately brings to mind pictures of Mount Everest, awe-inspiring snow-capped peaks, colorful prayer flags flapping in the wind… but there is so much more to it.

The real adventure is something that has to be experienced… with a wide range of activities for every taste and goal, Nepal offers everything for the adventure of a lifetime.

The world-famous treks in the Annapurna and Everest region (for example Annapurna Base Camp Trek and Everest Base Camp Trek are the most popular amongst “first-timers” in high-altitudes. Trekkers enjoy amazing views of the Himalayas as they also discover the local traditions and villages, ancient monasteries, scenic forests, and breathtaking landscapes, often even across all climatic zones from tropical to artic. Other well-known treks include areas around Manasulu, Makalu, Langtang, Upper Mustang, and Dolpa. For climbers and mountaineers, the challenging options are just as diverse, from Island Peak, Mera Peak, Pisang Peak, Lobuche Peak, or Thorong Peak. And last, but not least, the Himalayas of Nepal set the stage for thrilling expeditions to the roof of the world.

Besides Mount Everest (the highest peak of the world at 8,848 meters), expeditions to Ama Dablam, Mt. Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, or Mount Cho Oyu are on the bucket list of many alpinists.

But, Nepal is not just about trekking and mountaineering. The country has a rich history, culture, and architecture that can be explored on day trips or on a multi-day-journey through the country. The lively city of Kathmandu awaits with seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Bashantapur, Patan, and Bhaktapur, famous areas like Old Freak Street and Thamel – an ode to the hippie culture of the 70s and 80s – and colorful insight into the everyday life of the Nepalese people.

Leaving the hustle and bustle of the city behind, many visitors head to Pokhara, a city 200 km west of the capital, not only known for its tranquil lakes and beautiful mountain views, but also for its wide range of activities like paragliding, bungee jumping, rafting and hiking. Yoga enthusiasts find a great choice of yoga classes and retreats surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Pokhara is also the starting point for shorter or longer treks in the Annapurna region, from Poon Hill to Annapurna Base Camp. With plenty of guesthouses, hotels, restaurants, and bars, it is the perfect place to relax after an outdoor adventure.

Another destination for nature lovers is the National Park of Chitwan where visitors can take a closer look at the wilderness of Nepal, go on a jungle safari, jungle trek, or canoeing tour.

No matter if ambitious mountaineer, hiker or trekker, curious traveler, or a passionate yogi – With its unique culture, history, nature paradise, and welcoming people, Nepal tour after COVID-19  have been winning the hearts of travelers from all over the world.
