However, Moxie Marlinspike is known as the founder of Signal, as he has his mindset in this app. Moxie Marlinspike started Open Whisper Systems in 2013 and under this, the Signal Protocol and Signal Messenger were introduced.
Moxie Marlinspike is also a security researcher and launched the Whisper System in 2010. One of its encrypted texting programs, TextSecure, was launched. Meanwhile, RedPhone was also introduced for encrypted voice calling. Overall, this was the time when the foundation of Signal Messenger was laid or the concept was started.

Signal Protocol gave in WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger
Interestingly, in late 2014 Moxie Marlinspike’s company, Open Whisper System partnered with WhatsApp to provide end-to-end encryption under the signal protocol. After this, the Signal Protocol of the Open Whisper System was also given in Google’s messaging app Allo.
Another interesting thing is that in 2016 the secret chat was started in Facebook Messenger and even then the Signal Protocol of Open Whisper System was used for it which was used in WhatsApp.
What is the Signal protocol?
It is a cryptographic protocol used to provide end to end encryption in voice and video calls. Apart from end-to-end encryption ie Sender and Receiver, no third can read calls or chats nor is it traceable in the server.
In 2013, Open Whisper System, a company of Moxie Marlinspike, developed this protocol. The same protocol was used in WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger for an end to end encryption.
In 2018, WhatsApp was joined by founder Brian Acton Moxie Marlinspike and together formed the Signal Foundation, a non-profit organization. Brian initially invested $ 50 million in this foundation on his behalf.
Since then, the chairman of the Signal Foundation is Brian Acton and the CEO of Signal Messenger is Moxie Marlinspike. One more thing, the real name of Moxie Marnlspike is Matthew Rosenfeld.
