The Alipur Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, and Kochi Behar districts till June 20. A red alert has been issued in those districts. Two Dinajpur and Malda will also receive good rains. After Sunday, the rain will gradually decrease.

There is a low-pressure axis from central Pakistan to Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and Manipur. Seasonal winds are active on it. Heavy to very heavy rainfall will be seen in the next few days. Monsoon is coming on time in this situation – 12 June. Even before this, the northern and southern districts of the state have been receiving moderate to heavy rains. According to the Met Office, heavy rainfall is expected in Khabar, Darjeeling, Nagarkot, Baksa, Kalimpong, and Falakata.
