If you do not have Google’s Contacts app on your mobile, you will be taken to the download site. Give this app from Google access to your mobile contacts.
This will also show all your contacts on Google. From there you can back up your contacts. But for this, it is necessary to sync the contacts on your mobile with Gmail.
To do this, first, go to your phone’s settings. Log in to Accounts & Sync. Now choose Google from there. Within that, you can see your Gmail account.
Tap on it and tick the contacts inside. After doing so go to the last three-dotted peacock button at the bottom and sync now. This setting may vary depending on the mobile. This will automatically sync all the contact numbers on your phone with your Gmail.
