Good news for WhatsApp users, you will get 7 days to delete an incorrectly sent message

Good news for WhatsApp users, you will get 7 days to delete an incorrectly sent message

WhatsApp is going to extend the Delete for Everyone feature to 7 days. That is, users will now have 7 days to delete a message if they send it by mistake.

A few days ago, it was reported that WhatsApp, the world’s most popular instant messaging platform, is working to extend the ‘delete for everyone feature. Users currently have about one hour, eight minutes to delete a message sent to someone by mistake. But according to recent news, WhatsApp is going to extend this deadline to 7 days. In other words, users will now have 7 days to delete a message if they send it to someone by mistake.

The ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature is very familiar to those who chat on WhatsApp every day. After chatting for a long time, typing mistakes often lead to wrong messages being written and sent to the other party. As a result, we all use this feature immediately to correct mistakes. Using this feature deletes the message from the sender as well as the recipient’s chat list.

Note that WhatsApp first introduced this feature in 2016, and then the time limit was 6 minutes. That means you have to delete the message within 7 minutes of sending it. Since then, the app, now owned by Facebook (now Meta), has been working to extend the feature’s validity. So a few months later (in 2016) this time limit was extended to just over an hour (4,096 seconds).

But recently, WhatsApp’s feature tracker WABetaInfo has confirmed that WhatsApp is going to extend this time limit from 7 days to 6 minutes. Earlier, however, according to a report by WABetaInfo, the company was working to extend the ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature indefinitely, meaning that users can delete the wrong message whenever they want.

Although recent reports suggest that this feature is being rolled out in 7 days, since the feature is currently under development, and the company has not announced a rollout deadline, this deadline is likely to change again in the future. We will notify you immediately if we receive any updates in this regard. So keep an eye on TechGap to get all the updates related to the latest features of WhatsApp.
