New logos for Gmail and Drive are starting to show up in Android and web apps.
Earlier this month, Google announced that it was rebranding the G Suite to the workspace. Rebranding gives a new look to Google apps like Drive, Gmail, and Docs. New changes are starting to be reflected with the new Gmail and Drive logos.
The latest version of Gmail for Android has a new logo. 9to5 According to Google, the new icon will only appear on the home screen. It does not appear anywhere else in the Gmail app. The report adds that some users are seeing the new Gmail logo on its web version.
Gmail now looks similar to other Google apps with the same Google logo design. Google has removed the iconic envelope of the new logo, which now features the trademark’ in blue, red, yellow, and green.
Google Drive received the smallest makeover of the redesign. The new drive logo is inseparable from the original. The Google Drive app on Android has started showing the new logo in a new update. It also appears on the home screen, splash screen and status bar. The web version of the drive also shows the new logo but the old one still appears.
Google seems to be releasing new logos slowly, so it will take some time for everyone to get it. With the new look, these Google apps get new features like previewing the content of the link without leaving the original document, improvements in the reference, and more. Google’s move behind rebranding is to improve cross-application collaboration than ever before.
