Easy Steps to Transfer Messages from iPhone to Android

The process of transferring messages from your iPhone to an Android device is fairly easy as long as you are using the iSMS2droid app which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store free of charge. But if you are using one of the later Android devices, you can simply use the inbuilt data transfer option while booting it up. This helps you transfer all data including files, apps, settings and messages from iPhone to Android.

If you have the Data Transfer option on your Android device, it is the easiest and most recommended option. Otherwise, follow the steps given here involving the free iSMS2driod app.

Data Transfer

Some Android phones like Samsung provide you with a USB-OTG cable which you can use to connect your iPhone and Android device and then go ahead with the transferring of files from one to the other. Some phones have an easy set-up process to follow which allows you to seamlessly transfer the files of your choice from one device to the other. You can transfer not only your messages but your contacts, photos, videos, music, notes, and reminders as well. This is a simple process and can be carried out by anyone without help.

Google provides the option of “Quick Switch Adaptor” to enable the transfer of data from one device to another. Especially if you are using a Pixel device, this is the easiest and most obvious option to use as it helps you transfer all your previous data, including messages, from your iPhone to your Android phone.

Transferring messages from iPhone to Android

If you have purchased a new Android phone and are about to switch over from an iPhone, do not let yourself be bogged down with over-expensive recovery software like “iPhone Data” or “TransPhone.” There is an easier and free-of-cost method to transfer all your messages from iPhone to Android. All you need to do is follow the steps given here, and you are good to go!

To use this process, you need to use a computer—Windows or Mac. This process is easy but just a bit more intricate. The end result, however, is exactly the same. And it does not cost you anything!

Also, you do not need to have both the devices on you for this method, unlike in the case of other methods like Data Transfer or other app-based methods.

Given below are the 3 steps to transfer messages from iPhone to Android:

1. Create a backup file

The first step is to create a backup file of the messages on your iPhone on to your computer.

Once you have connected your iPhone to the computer, go to File > Devices > Back Up. From the drop-down menu in iTunes, select your device and then choose Backup Now. Alternatively, you may choose to sync iTunes on the two devices, which will automatically backup your messages.

Locate the backup file on your computer. Once you have, simply copy this file into your new Android device or into an SD card which you can insert into your new Android phone.

Ensure you have found the correct backup file before you copy it. On a Windows computer, it will be found in:

C:\Users[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

On a Mac system, it can be found in:

~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

The backup file will be called: 3d0d7e5fb2ce288813306e4d4636395e047a3d28

2. Download and install iSMS2droid

The next step is to download and install the free iSMS2droid app from the Google Play Store on your Android device. Give the app all the necessary permissions to carry out the transfer smoothly. Plug your device to a power source if you have plenty of messages because this process may take some time. Open the app, follow the instructions, and locate your messages backup file.

If you have an older phone, the iSMS2droid app might not work. In that case, just use the SMS Backup and Restore app along with an iSMS2droid Online Converter.

3. Execute the transfer

The final step is to start the transfer process itself and just sit back while the app does its work. You can choose to transfer all your messages or select the conversations that you want to transfer. Make sure you have synced your contacts before you start the transfer of messages to see which conversations are being transferred.

Now once the transfer starts, all you have to do is wait for it to be completed! And your messages will have been successfully transferred from your iPhone to your Android device.
