Precaution! A new scam is going on in India regarding crypto, if you do not pay attention then all your currency will be stolen
If you invest in cryptocurrency then you need to be careful. There is a new scam going on in the market regarding this, which can harm you. Cyber security firm Check Point Research has told about this.
A new botnet variant Twizt has been reported by the security firm. According to the report, it has stolen cryptocurrencies worth about half a million dollars. For this, a technique crypto clipping was used.
This scam targets crypto traders from India, Ethiopia, and Nigeria. The Twizt is another variant of the Phorpiex botnet family. Twizt automatically replaces the intended wallet address with the wallet address of the attackers to steal cryptocurrencies.
The cyber security firm has warned cryptocurrency traders to be careful about sending funds. About 969 transactions have been traced so far. Twizt botnet can operate without any active command and control server and can breach the security mechanism.
According to Check Point Research, in 12 months, 3.64 Bitcoin, 55.87 Ether, and $ 55,000 in ERC20 were taken. In one incident, 26 ETH was hijacked in one go. As already mentioned, Twizt uses a crypto clipping technique. With this, funds are sent from the user’s wallet to the scammer’s wallet through malware.
It has been told in the report that this variant of Phorpiex is quite dangerous. It takes commands and updates from thousands of infected machines. Second, it can also steal cryptocurrencies without contacting the Control and Command Center. It supports wallets with more than 30 different blockchains. Users need to be careful with this.
