Your iPhone is full of secret features that you can make use of if only you knew how. Here are the handpicked top 10 iPhone tips and tricks for you to mull over. Most of these will improve the efficiency of your iPhone. They will also enhance your life and save time on several occasions.
Apple products are generally user friendly. Once you become used to the UI and the features, you simply cannot do without your iPhone. But an iPhone also has many hidden features that not many are aware of. These top 10 iPhone tips and tricks will make you a pro when it comes to handling an iPhone.
The following top 10 iPhone tips and tricks range from security features to customizations that will enhance your iPhone experience. You may know some of them, but there are definitely those that you will be reading about for the first time!

Top 10 iPhone Tips & Tricks

1. Boost the speed of your iPhone

Over time, all smartphones become slow. iPhones are no exception. This happens due to the piling up of unnecessary data and files, that you forget to delete periodically.
To avoid this, turn your iPhone off from time to time. This will clear the memory and free up space. Update your iOS and manually delete the files and apps that you do not use or need. The later versions of iOS are focussed on performance so speed should not be an issue if only you follow these basic tips.

2. Use Dark Mode

From iOS 13 onwards, Dark Mode will be available on your iPhone. Use this mode on your iPhone to boost its performance.
Dark Mode automatically applies a grey or black background to all the compatible apps. Not only does it make it easy on your eyes, but it also saves a lot of battery. It is better than a Blue Light Filter.

3. Skip calls and make your iPhone remind you later

It is not possible to answer all calls al the time. Or, sometimes you simply just don’t want to answer a call.
Tap the “Remind Me Later” option while receiving a call. Choose the option of when you want to be reminded so you can call back or drop a message.

4. Create custom ringtones

You can use iTunes or GarageBand to create custom ringtones or alert tones for your calls and messages. You can any track from your iTunes library and create a short 30-second clip out of it and use it as a ringtone. You can also create notification alerts using tracks from iTunes.
If you can use GarageBand, you can create your own track to use as a ringtone. Open the GarageBand app on your iPhone and compose a unique track and then set it as your ringtone.

5. Customize control center

You can design the control center of your iPhone just the way you prefer. This feature is available from iOS 11 onwards.
Go to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls. From the list, choose the ones you want to keep and delete the ones you do not. You can also tap, hold, and drag the items to rearrange them as per your choice.

6. Activate Low Power Mode

We normally use Batter Saver modes when our phones are out of juice. The iPhone also has the Low Power Mode which we get prompted to activate when the charge drops below 20%. But you can turn on this mode at other times too to save battery.
Go to Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode, and turn it on. This mode will cut down on unnecessary features and apps running in the background to save your battery.
Please note that many regular features will not be available while your phone is on Low Power Mode. Your emails may not be synced instantly, and you may not receive social media notifications. However, all calls and messages will work perfectly fine and your battery will last longer.

7. Activate shake to undo

Did you know that your iPhone has an inbuilt “undo” option? If you have accidentally deleted a message or any mistake while handling your iPhone, you can simply shake it once to undo the action. A window pops up asking for your confirmation and once you tap the option of your choice, you are all set!

8. Use the “Do Not Disturb” mode

The smartphone is useful in more ways than one, no doubt, but it is also a nuisance when you are trying to get some work done or are just trying to take an uninterrupted nap.
Go to the control center of your iPhone and find the crescent moon icon at the bottom. A window will pop up prompting the activation of the “Do Not Disturb” mode. You have to choose the duration for which you want your iPhone to be in this mode. Upon activation, all incoming calls and all kinds of notifications will be silenced. You can set this mode up to be activated every day for a fixed duration for the timings of your choice. You can set up exceptions too, to allow only selected people to be able to contact you even when you are in this mode.

9. Take photos while recording video

When you are caught between taking a photo or recording a video, just relax! An iPhone allows you to do both at the same time. As you record an unforgettable moment you might find certain frames that you want to capture as photos too.
Simply tap the camera icon while the video is recording and it is done! The camera icon will appear on your screen even as the video is being recorded for this purpose. Note that the images are not being taken using the photography focussed camera on your iPhone, but they will still be quite impressive.

10. Stop iPhone Addiction

Who is not addicted to their smartphones? We are always staring at our little screens and feel restless if are away from our phone for too long. If you want to reduce your addiction to your iPhone, you can set your Downtime on your iPhone accordingly.
On iPhones running on iOS 12 onwards, go to Settings > Screen Time. You will see the complete details of how much time you are spending on which app. You get a breakdown day-wise as to time spent on apps. So you can see which apps take up most of your time.
Tap on the “Downtime” option and you can choose certain apps and make them available only for certain hours during the day. This will make these apps inaccessible during the other parts. So you can reduce your iPhone addiction by choosing Downtime from say 9 PM until 5 AM. You can also choose the apps which will be available even during the Downtime.
Alternatively, you can set limits to the duration for which you can access an app for a day. You can do this for social networking apps and streaming apps, f you are addicted to them.
So these are the top 10 iPhone tips and tricks that will enhance your iPhone experience and make you a pro at handling the gadget.
